A Guide To Yoga At Home

There is nothing like feeling serene and full of positivity. Finding your happy place is a skill that a lot of us have not yet tapped into that we honestly could really use. The spring is here, and it is certainly one of the calmer seasons, so grabbing some fresh air and just coasting it during the spring months may be beneficial to you. However, these days everyone and everything has become so high-strung and partially inaccessible you may wonder how do I bring those Zen vibes at home? One way is Yoga. 

 

Yoga: The Basics 

First and foremost, yoga (the term) is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ which basically means “to unite one’s individual self with the supreme self”. Essentially, the way to do so is by clearing your mind and looking within to your potential energy, and harnessing that energy to build yourself from the inside out.  It may be difficult to find a yoga studio, however, yoga is something you can do at home. 

Yoga At Home 

Doing yoga at home may sound a bit risqué, considering the physical element of it can be challenging depending on the style. Yoga is personal so first and foremost, get rid of the idea that you have to do it as you’ve seen on tv or at the gym. 

Find or clear a designated space in your home and make sure it is rid of clutter. Clutter can cause you to stress so your yoga area needs to be as relaxing as possible in order to meet your goal. Research some different yoga styles before you begin as well. Not all are the same: Power, Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative. 

Once you’ve designated your space and found your yoga style, the next thing is to purchase your yoga mat. Once you have that you are all set to begin your yoga mantra. You can choose to do your routine in silence however if the silence is too loud for you, there are many Zen tracks floating around you can use a center to balance your mind and body.
