3 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Irvine

Whenever we move to a new place, we focus on what’s essential. We look for schools, supermarkets, recreational shopping centers, and most of all EATERIES. But one thing we all seem to not really get to know is the history of our city. Moving can be hectic so who can blame you. The excitement of being in your new home and strutting those newfound interior design skills is a part of the exhilaration of moving. However, knowing your city’s history can be interesting when you do the research. I mean sure, we may look into a neighborhood’s crime rate and overall likeability, but we don’t really dive into the essence of the town. That may not interest you but for those whose interest we have peaked, Aperto is here to shed some light on the city of Irvine. 

MOVIE FAMOUS

When you think of Irvine you don’t think of celebrities, however, the town has had its run-in with a few. The Lovely Bones author Alice Sebold received her degree from UCI back in 1998. The book, for those who may not be familiar, went on to have a film adaptation that gained a bit of popularity back in 2009. Also, famed movie The Hangover has a famous scene from the film featuring a Giraffe that was shot on the freeway located directly next to UCI. 

MUSICAL TIES

UCI is a hotspot for some major associations! Famed music group No Doubt although famously from Orange County also has ties to the land of Irvine as well. Guitarist of the group, Tom Dumont was born and raised right here in the city. Another celebrity to touch the soil of Irvine is the lead singer of 90s metal band Rage Against the Machine, who, in fact, is a native to the town. 

 

FOOD FAMOUS

Last but not least, Irvine is home to the headquarters of the famous and highly favored Mexican chain restaurant, Taco Bell.

 

The city of Irvine has some notable reasons that make it an interesting place to call home and is definitely not a stranger to some notable names.
